Nepali
and Indian officials on Friday agreed not to continue any
reconstruction work in the no-man’s land near Tilathi VDC of Saptari
district, ending a tension of two days.Local security officials of the
bordering nations signed a three-point agreement today to channelise the
flow of Khando River toward its previous riverbed, take initiatives
from the central level of both governments to search missing border
pillars and put on hold the reconstruction of the disputed dam for
now.Earlier, on Thursday, tension had run high in the area after some
Nepalis protested reconstruction of the dam carried out by India after
it was swept away by a recent flood.The reconstruction would be carried
out later on the basis of a report prepared by a joint team involving
government officials of the both nations, Saptari Chief District Officer
Baldev Gautam said.Earlier, the CDO Gautam-led team comprising SP Bhim
Prasad Dhakal, Armed Police Force DSP Nirkrishna Adhikari among others
had held the talks with Indian officials led by Supaul District
Magistrate Baidya Nath Yadav.The officials had monitored the situation
