Yobe State Government Provides N2.5 Million For The Infant Boy

mother of the baby born from Geidam Local Government of Yobe State with
her heart organ outside the chest wall thought she had given birth to
twins when she saw the heart pulping outside the chest of her new born
child.
Falmata, who is now at the University Teaching Hospital Maiduguri having
left Geidam on referral informed the correspondent at the hospital that
she only realized that it was not a second baby when they got to the
general hospital atGeidam in Yobe State from their village Gonigori.
All the local inhabitants of Gonigori are stunned with this unusual
condition of the child. Since the family do not have the ability for the
surgery of the child due to poverty, Yobe State Government has raised
N2.5 Million for the child’s treatment.
This has sparked massive reactions from Nigerians who have questioned
the reason behind such decision. While some people argue that it would
be better to fly the child to a Western Hospital, some others question
why a Ghanian hospital is more equipped to handle such a complicated
procedure at Nigeria isn’t, if Nigeria is still the ‘Giant Of Africa’ it
claimed to be.
